PROJECT
TEAM
Town Enrichment Action Movement in Gurgaon is aimed at helping families
of out of school children. The project proposes mobilising into
cooperative action for elimination of child labour diverse sections
of Gurgaon's civil society through organising them into an action
committee called TEAM committee. The long term objective of the
project is the establishment of a demonstration scale direction
for adopting a strategy for drawing all Gurgaon children into a
compulsory education programme. The project is guided by the philosophy
that children out of school are all child labour or potentially
so it will work for:
* Enrolment of all children below 14
years into school.
* Provision of a platform for local
NGOs and industry to join hands in providing meaningful skills training
to older school dropouts.
* Provision of support in facilitation
completion of high school through National Open School system of
the government of India for those desiring to do so.
* Creation of mass awareness of the
rights of all children to education and development and the laws
currently in force in this regard applicable for employers.
* Provision of support for activities
to train and skill mothers of the children / women to access micro-credit
facilities would continue towards not just sustaining loss of wages
of their wards engaged as child workers, but enhancing family incomes.
*Provision of preventive and curative
health services for children with a view to cut down an absence
from school due to sickness.
*Creation of 'school space' and 'teaching
faculty' to addressed the needs of all newly mobilised children
seeking school admission.
*The project is being implemented by
SNS Foundation and is supported by the British High Commission and
United Nations Development Programme in Delhi. IEMSD is collaborating
in organising awareness campaigns through workshops, seminars etc.
SNS
Foundation, Gurgaon based NGO sponsored by the Anand Group, has
been engaged in activities for supporting development of excluded
communities, particularly children and women. As a policy the Foundation
is committed to bringing all its work within human rights centered
approach. Thus focus areas for the foundation are both children's
education and supporting activities that facilitate the process
of social capital development in which the most excluded members
of our society i.e. women can make more informed choices about life
and living. The institute for Environmental management and Social
Development has been established by highly motivated professionals
to provide world class education and training in the vital fields
of management of environment, crisis and disaster, social development
an voluntary organisation , for which little has been done in the
country. The idea is to influence these related fields through a
facility of international standards under one roof, for education,
training, research and reorientation. It is sought to prepare a
cadre of management men and women to handle matters of environment,
crises and disaster situations in a professional manner, and contribute
to sustainable development.
