Initiatives on North-East
IEMSD
started its North East Initiative by setting up its regional
office at Guwahati in June 2003. The following Initiatives have
already been taken by IEMSD since then.

up of a 24 self help groups in Mokokchung district of Nagaland
with RCDS, Mokokchung.

Sponsoring
of a handicapped weaver from Dibuia village, Nagaland for
micro enterprise development.

baseline survey on eco tourism potential in Arunachal Pradesh.

Conducted
a health camp at Mokokchung and Wokha districts of Nagaland,
from November 6-12, 2003.
- Conducted
a free health camp in collaboration with T.Society at Ziro,
Arunachal Pradesh, from January 21, 2004 to January 23, 2004.
- Working
with NEDFi and other organizations to organize a North-East
tourism meet to support educated entrepreneurs from North East
and boost tourism in the area.
- Organized
a Seminar on "IT for Masses" jointly in collaboration
with NEC at IIE, Guwahati from 29th to 30th Sept. 2004.
- Organized
a "Seminar and Brainstorming Session on Development of
North East Region" in collaboration with Assam Rifles,
Shillong at HQ DGAR Shillong from 10th - 11th Nov 2004.
- Organised 1st "North East Documentary Film Festival"
at North Eastern Council Auditorium, Shillong from 7th -13th
July 2005.
- Organised 1st Road show of the 1st North East Documentary
Film Festival at DIPR Auditorium, Aizawl, Mizoram from 8th -
11th October 2005.
